Support & Events
At CBC, we take a holistic approach that meets the needs of the whole pregnancy experience. Our three pillars of support are childbirth education, doula services, and breastfeeding support. Together they work to make sure every mother is informed, cared for, and never alone on her journey. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for a complete list of services and events.

Breastfeeding Support
CBC hosts a monthly breastfeeding support group in Opelousas as part of the statewide CafΓ© au Lait Breastfeeding Support for Women of Color program. Our goal is simple: to promote and support breastfeeding in communities where rates are low.
Every meeting is free and open to mothers, fathers, partners, grandparents, and children. Come get your questions answered, connect with other moms, and enjoy refreshments and giveaways.
Every 2nd Tuesday of the month, 6:00 to 7:00 PM, Virtual

Community Doula
A doula is a trained birth companion who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. For low income mothers navigating a healthcare system that has not always served them well, having a knowledgeable advocate in the room is not a luxury. It is a necessity.
CBC's community doulas are trained, compassionate, and deeply rooted in Opelousas. From prenatal visits through those first tender weeks at home, your doula will be there β fully committed to you and your baby every step of the way. Check out our Doula Collective page to learn more.
Childbirth Education
Being prepared changes everything. When you understand what is happening in your body, know your options, and feel confident in your choices, you are better able to advocate for yourself in the delivery room. Research consistently shows that informed mothers have better outcomes for themselves and their babies.
CBC offers childbirth education classes quarterly, designed with low income mothers in mind. Our classes cover what to expect during labor and delivery, your rights as a patient, and how to communicate effectively with your care team. Follow our social media to stay up to date on class offerings.
